Safety is a core requirement for our sector because our products and equipment must operate reliably and protect users in everyday applications. Ensuring that machinery and systems are safe is not only a legal obligation but also a key factor in building and maintaining customer trust.

Some of the most important EU pieces of legislation for EUnited in this area include the Machinery Directive (soon replaced by the Machinery Regulation), the Non-Road Mobile Machinery Regulation, the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive. 

In addition to these, the upcoming revision of the New Legislative Framework—which underpins EU product legislation, CE marking, and conformity assessment modules—and the Market Surveillance Regulation are crucial to ensure that only safe and compliant products are placed on the market.

EUnited is an active member of the European Commission Machinery Expert Group, where we contribute to discussions on the implementation of the new Machinery Regulation, provide feedback on guidance documents, and represent the interests of our members throughout the process.
