POLICY AREAS

Standardisation

Standards are essential to ensure that products and equipment are safe, reliable, and support market access across Europe and internationally. They facilitate legal compliance and help manufacturers deliver solutions that meet customer expectations for quality and performance.

EUnited is actively involved in technical committees at both European (CEN and CENELEC) and international (ISO and IEC) level. Through this engagement, we contribute to the development of standards relevant to municipal and professional cleaning equipment, and vehicle wash systems.

Technical committees and subcommittees in which EUnited is involved directly and through its members include:

  • CEN/TC 337  Winter maintenance and road service area maintenance equipment
  • CLC/TC 31 Safety of household and similar electrical appliances
  • CLC/TC 59 X Performance of household and similar electrical appliances
  • CLC/TC 61Safety of household and similar electrical appliances
  • CEN/CLC/JTC 10 Material efficiency aspects for products in scope of Ecodesign legislation
  • CEN/TC151 Construction equipment and building material machines
  • ISO/TC 297 Waste collection and transportation management
  • IEC/TC 61 Safety of household and similar electrical appliances
  • IEC/TC 61/SC 61 J Safety of electrical motor-operated cleaning appliances for commercial use
  • IEC/TC 31/JMT 62784 Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners and dust extractors providing equipment protection level Dc (linked to SC 61J)

In addition, EUnited monitors and supports standardisation initiatives in other regions, such as the Technical Harmonization Committees 335K and 335H in North America, which promote alignment of international and regional standards and the sharing of best practices.
