Call for Applications: "2016 euRobotics Technology Transfer Award"
Deadline: 7 February 2016 The aim of the "euRobotics Technology Transfer Award" (now in its 13th year) is to showcase the impact of robotics research and to raise the profile of technology transfer between science and industry. Outstanding innovations in robot technology and automation that result from cooperative efforts between research and industry are eligible for the prize. Cash prizes as well as signed certificates will be awarded for the best applications. The event will be highly visible and will be covered by media.
Applications are invited from individuals or teams who are associated with:
- Industry, if technology transfer has taken place in Europe.
- European universities, research organizations and laboratories
A team may be represented by up to three members (individuals) in the application.
Applications may address but are not limited to the following areas of robot automation:
• Robot application: Solutions of robot automation are sought which have contributed to cutting costs, raising quality and enhancing productivity, or have led to a reduction of physical labour at the workplace.
• Robot development: Research results which have contributed to an innovative and competitive robot system (to be used in manufacturing or non-manufacturing or private/domestic fields).
• Development of robot technologies and components: Results leading to new or improved methods or components which contribute to safety, flexibility, intelligence, operation, acceptance and/or servicing of robot systems.
The project must be completed by the application date or no more than 24 months prior to the application date. Should submitted applications not come up to the required standards of excellence no prize will be awarded.
The written application should include a summary not exceeding six pages of the project and its technology transfer, setting out:
• Project title
• Participants and information about their company/organization
• Motivation and goals of the research and development effort
• State of the art
• Project approach
• Results of research and development
• Achieved innovation and commercial impact
• Handling of intellectual property rights and commercialization
• Cooperation between research and industry with benefit for the partners.
The complete application should be sent to Martin.Haegele@ipa.fraunhofer.de by Sunday, 07 February 2016. Submitted applications will be evaluated by a jury consisting of members from industry and academia/research.
The presentations and the ceremony for the 2016 euRobotics Technology Transfer Award will take place at the 2016 European Robotics Forum in Ljubljana, most likely on 22 March 2016 (exact date and location to be communicated). In a “Technology Transfer Session” the finalists will each have 15 min to present their projects (plus time for questions and discussion). Based on both the written application and the presentation, the jury will determine the winners.
