Mariya Gabriel new Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society

The European Parliament has endorsed Mariya Gabriel as the new Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society: robotics is part of her responsibilities. Mariya Gabriel is the long-awaited successor of former digital commissioner Günther Oettinger who left the position to serve as Commissioner of Budget and Human Resources.

Mariya Gabriel is a Bulgarian national and has been a member of the European Parliament since 2009.

In her role as the Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, she will support the implementation of the Digital Single Market Strategy; contribute to delivering a Digital Single Market; helping to lay the groundwork for Europe's digital future with EU-wide telecommunications networks, digital services that cross borders and a wave of innovative European start-ups. She will also ensure that the right conditions are set through copyright law, to support cultural and creative industries and maximise their potential for the economy.

Much has already been achieved in relation to the European digital transformation thanks to Günther Oettinger. We at EUnited Robotics appreciate the hard work and dedication of Günther Oettinger to support the European Robotics manufacturing industry.

We look forward to working together with Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, to continue strengthening Europe's manufacturing industry and ensuring its global competitiveness.
