Joint industry position paper on the digital declaration of conformity
EUnited together with a group of industry leaders has united to address the outdated practice of paper-based Declaration of Conformity (DoC) requirements under EU harmonization legislation. The signatories advocate for embracing digital transformation and aligning with the EU's green and digital transition goals.
Currently, manufacturers are obliged to provide an EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) in a paper format. However, there is no explicit legal requirement for this paper format, hindering progress in the digital era.
To resolve this issue, the signatories propose amending the Blue Guide to allow the option of providing the DoC electronically. This amendment would harmonize the use of digital DoCs across EU relevant legislation, enhancing efficiency and compliance for manufacturers.
The signatories call on the authorities to consider and adopt this amendment, providing clarity and flexibility in the format of DoCs and facilitating the transition to digital documentation.
