CEO Dialogue at automatica - confirmed keynotes

High level networking and visions for the digital future on the eve of automatica 2018.

"Autonomous Systems - How can we reap the benefits?"

In the next decades, we will be moving from automation to autonomy. Autonomous systems will be everywhere: They will support us on the digital shop floor as well as in our daily lives. They will impact our work, our lives, the society as a whole and of course also our business. The opportunities are alluring. But we also hear a lot of sceptics that fear takeover by superintelligent AI.

The European Council in October stressed the immense opportunities digitalisation offers for innovation, growth and jobs, and our global competitiveness. Seizing these opportunities requires collectively tackling some of the challenges posed by the digital transformation and reviewing policies affected by digitalisation.

2018 has already been called the “Year of Robotics and AI”.  Let us look at the benefits for businesses, the framework politics is providing to ensure them.

This is a high-level networking event on June 18th 2018, jointly organized by EUnited Robotics and Messe München, for CEOs of automatica exhibitors and selected end-users. It is by personal invitation only.

Confirmed Keynotes:

  • Klaus Helmrich, Member of the Board, Siemens AG

"The digital transformation in industry – the hour of implementation has arrived"

Digitalisation is challenging all sectors around the globe: New products must be brought to market in ever-shorter timeframes, individualized products and changing markets require increasing flexibility and the requested efficiency improvements demand shorter development times. But the digital transformation in industry is creating new opportunities: New business models and ecosystems are emerging. The digital transformation requires new forms of cooperation at all levels – between companies, industries and institutions. Klaus Helmrich will explain his view on transformation of processes and business models to secure competitiveness of our businesses.

  • Dr. Carl-Christian Buhr, Deputy Head of Cabinet of Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, Digital Economy & Society, European Commission

"Artificial Intelligence in the European Data Economy - what role can the European Commission play?"

The digital revolution is here and Europe needs to move fast ahead, much faster than we are used to.” (Commissioner Mariya Gabriel)

In October 2017, the European Council – the heads of states and governments - asked the European Commission to put forward a European approach to artificial intelligence by early 2018 and called on the EC to strengthen the framework conditions to enable the EU to explore new markets through risk-based radical innovations and to reaffirm the leading role of its industry. Half a year later, Carl-Christian Buhr, tech heavyweight in the Cabinet Gabriel and expert in cybersecurity, will shed light on the Commission’s plans and explain the first steps taken so far.
