The New Public Private Partnership: AI, Data, and Robotics

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data, and Robotics are examples of areas where Europe needs a comprehensive plan to maintain a global lead – in business and research. These are defining technologies which are increasingly important for our economy that will also significantly influence our society.

Building on the foundation of the current Horizon 2020 partnerships: Big Data Value Partnership (BDV PPP) and the Partnership for Robotics in Europe (SPARC), European Commission has proposed a new Partnership: The Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data and Robotics Partnership

The AI, Data and Robotics Partnership is one of the European Partnerships in digital, industry and space in Horizon Europe. The new Partnership is to drive innovation, acceptance and uptake of these technologies and boost new markets and applications, attract investments, and create technical, economic and societal value for business, citizens and the environment. By 2030, European sovereignty is expected in the development and deployment of trustworthy, safe and robust AI, Data and Robotics, compatible with EU values and regulations.

The Big Data Value Association (BDVA), the Confederation of Laboratories of Artificial Intelligence in Europe (CLAIRE), the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS), the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI) and the European Robotics Association (euRobotics) have joined forces to releasing the Joint Strategic Research Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA) for the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership.

This SRIDA will guide the activities of the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership from January 2021 onwards and is meant to ensure that this initiative achieves its vision: To boost European competitiveness, societal wellbeing and environmental aspects to lead the world in researching, developing and deploying value-driven trustworthy AI, Data and Robotics based on fundamental European rights, principles and values.
